About Gretchen

Hi Y’all! Welcome to MealMarmalade! Let me take a minute to introduce myself to you. My name is Gretchen Tooke.

First of all, I am a Wife and a Momma…a ridiculously proud momma of five, six if you count my wonderfully, supportive hubby, wink, wink!  I love my family dearly and everything that I do in the kitchen is an expression of that love for each and every one of them.  I am creative and crafty. Always looking for a way to be creative from painting, repurposing things, arranging, and of course…COOKING!  I am a lover of genealogy and history. My husband and I spend many hours researching and working on our family trees. I am a foodie and a non-classically trained home chef.   Years of cooking for family and friends, experimenting, and entertaining have taught me some extremely valuable life lessons when it comes to the kitchen.

One of my main goals for my family is to eat as healthy as possible using the freshest ingredients and from local growers when ever possible.  Keeping things new and fun at the same time.

Creativity is often times fostered out of desperation for something different.  My husband says that I can look inside of a cabinet and see all of the shapes, sizes, and colors of things and whip it into something amazing.  Now maybe he is just being complimentary but hopefully my blog may show some of my creativity with the whimsical yet tasty concoctions that I post.

MealMarmalade came to fruition after my husband and children begged me to start writing down my recipes for them. And thanks to modern technology, and a wonderful, supportive husband (who happens to be an IT guru, lol), I was inspired to create MealMarmalade and share it with the world! I am so excited to be able to share my passion for cooking with you through my blog. So, give it a try, and please let me know what you think.
